We received confirmation on Saturday, 10/4/03, that we were approved for the $1500 Neighborhood Grant. This money will be used to jumpstart our "Junior" WLNA - under the leadership of Pam Mizerany. The primary focus of this junior association will be "environmental"....and I know that Pam will do a GREAT job. I also know that she will need a lot of encouragement and support...and of course interested young people from the neighborhood.

So members with kids....please start talking to your kids about the possibility of this junior association happening soon. We don't have details but from early conversations with Pam I know she's thinking along the lines of some field trips....possibly a camping trip....making our own lakes a kind of "living laboratory" etc. Somehow we're going to need to create an accurate roster of ALL the neighborhood kids with ages so that Pam can start contacting these households. Be thinking about how we might do that. THANKS!

YEAH WLNA!!!!!!!

September 24th - BOCC Award Ceremony for best "Environmental Project" - at County Center

On behalf of the 70+ salvinia warriors (WLNA residents) who scooped, raked, hauled, and hoisted...Olivia Mead proudly accepted the county's highest neighborhood recognition award - Best Environmental Project for 2003! Olivia used the moment to remind commissioners that although the effort had been a huge success...due to factors beyond the residents' control...the lake has TEMPORARILY returned to the deplorable state. Commissioner Hagan praised the ongoing efforts of WLNA for its tireless pursuit of a solution - and noted the launch of the Lake Mangement Plan on Saturday, September 27th.
